Well today is the beginning of Muzzle Loader Season and Harris is on his way here, we are getting a second chance to bag some doe.
I will be using a .54cal C.V.A. Muzzle Loader and since Harris doesn't have his own rifle I'm letting him use my C.V.A. Express, Double Barrel .50 cal .... Awesome rifle.
I see we have some snow on the ground and more snow is expected, that is good, we should be able to see a brown deer walking across a white background.

Snowing & blowing we got frozen out and all we saw were some birds & a piny squirrel. Latter that afternoon it stopped blowing & snowing and actually became quite pleasant out, I went out for a couple of hours and didn't see a single deer .... Did not see a married deer ether.
That was yesterday and this is today, I have greater prospects for today.

I'll be ready for bunnies real soon buddy but for now I'm just going to sit back and savor the thought of the really fantastic double lung shot I made on a doe this morning.
I was sitting in the center field stand when she came out of the blueberry bushes at 8:15a.m. .... The mighty .54 blasted, she flinched a little and then walked about 30 feet and fell.
Took her over to Rance's Deer Processing and am having her cut into roast & burger. .... she field dressed at 70 pounds.
Gill, Jerry cannot hunt every weekend and I have two muzzle loaders. If your interested.

I went muzzle hunting once and got one. Never did shoot it, gave it away in a fund raising auction on another web site. Have owned two muzzle loaders and never fired one in my life? Like a fly rod , to slow LOL

YOU SNOOZE< YOU LOOSE>
Wife had school this evening and I feed the horses after work,
Something told me to "Take My Muzzle Loader" ....
The horses were all worked up, snorting at something up on the sand
hill, I walked up and found a freshly wounded doe .... shot low in the rib
.... so I finished her off and tagged her ..... field dressed at 90 pounds.

I noticed at the beginning of the season that I was rapidly running out of Hornady .535 Round Balls for my .54 cal muzzle loader and I remember the last time I bought them they cost $5.00 pr 100 and as you might imagine, that was a very long time ago. www.hornady.com/store/54-Cal/For as long as I can remember I've always used Speer .490 Round Balls for my .50cal muzzle loader and have always had fantastic results with them ...NOT that I haven't had great results with the Hornady. I decided to order some .535 Speer balls this time around and seeing how long the last 100 balls lasted ... these 100 should last me the rest of my life and @ 18.oo+change, I'm not really wanting to buy more. On a side note .... Gill, Next year I'm going to let you use my .44 Mag & I'm going to use my .54.
