In 2007 when the DNR said we could use rifles that shot pistol cartridges a friend of mine offered me the use of his brand new Henry Big Boy lever action .44 mag rifle, He even gave me 50 rounds to use and I was able to harvest three doe and a buck. For so many years all I've used was a muzzle loader, I was really impressed with the rifles accuracy, ease of use, the ability to chamber another round so quickly and effortlessly that I was able to drop a doe and a buck in less than a five minute period. I expressed my excitement to my wife, who bought me an early Christmas gift last year, It was a Marlin .44mag rifle (couldn't afford a Henry) and I was really impressed. Got me a red-dot scope and bagged me a seven pointer and two doe this last season. After seeing the cost of ammunition go through the roof, I made the decision to "Bite The Bullet" and buy myself some re-loading equipment, press, dies, powder & primers and I even went in half's on a bullet mold. This is all new and I'm sure I will have to lots of reading to do on the powder charges, however I was told that the savings would be very noticeable and I would feel better knowing I re-loaded the ammo myself. Hmmm ... I don't know about feeling better that I re-loaded the ammo, I would feel better knowing I saved a bundle.

Great, welcome to the wonderful world of reloading. I fell into that you will save money thing too. I haven't saved a dime! I do shoot a LOT MORE!!! lol I started reloading in the late 70s. I was 18 amid bought a Ruger Security Six but had to get someone to go to Galyans with me every time I needed ammo. (had to be 21 to buy pistol ammo) Ray the salesman there told me if I started reloading I could buy all the powder, bullets and primers at age 18 and load all the ammo I need. I even went to work at Galyans after I turned 21. The Plainfield Store. I have been loading every since. If you have any questions I will try to help, as will most all reload's I have ever known. We love to share out addiction, or hoby... Drop me a line. cowboy57x/Doug
