A funny thing happened last week while I was deer hunting .... I was sitting quietly in my tree stand and I asked God to deliver me a nice doe.
I looked right, then I looked left, then I looked right again ... and there she was .... as though she had appeared out of thin air .... I said "LORD" she looks kinda small, I think I'll let her go. .... So she turned and walked away.
Then I thought "Maybe God" wanted me to have her ... so I said "Lord" if that is the doe you wanted me to have ... could you please bring her back .... And that Doe, turned around and came back ... stopped about 50 yards away and looked right at me .... Then I said quietly ... "LORD" could you get her to turn sideways for me? .... She turned sideways and I dropped her with one shot. 110 pounds field dressed.
I talk to God quite often when I'm out hunting ... While I'm fishing too.
This morning I asked God to deliver a buck, any size would be fine. I had gotten a late start this morning and didn't get out till 8:30am and decided to hunt near the creek where I believe I'm going to set a stand for next year ... anyway I was sitting on a 5-gallon bucket when I saw some antlers coming my way but they were on the other side of the creek ... This Buck came right up to the edge of the creek and stopped .... I said "GEE WIZZ LORD" could you get him to turn sideways ... Instead of crossing the creek, this Buck turned sideways and just stood there waiting for me to shoot him.
He was an 8-point and field dressed at 115 pounds, I dropped him with one shot ... BUT THEN .... I realized he was on one side if the creek and I was on the other side and the creek was about 20 yards across and 3 to 4 feet deep with a good current. .... SO I said "What am I going to do now"? The wife is in Southern Indiana Visiting her family, My neighbor is not home, my other neighbors are toooo old.
As I sat there this Idea just popped into my head, Go and get all your gun ropes from your ladder stands and tie them together. Then I tied one end to a tree and the other end to a Big stick that I threw across the creek ... then I went downstream and found a tree that had blown down across the creek and CRAWLED very carefully across .... Gutted the deer .... tied the one end of the rope to his antlers .... Crawled very carefully back to the other side ... pulled the deer across the creek ...
... Thank You Lord.
