I've hunted for many years on the ground, sitting on a 5-gallon bucket and have had great success, however this year I had the opportunity to use a ground blind and it was truly a blessed experience, It was roomy and kept me out of the elements. A couple of times it was rather cold out and windy, this ground blind blocked the wind and with the use of a portable heater I was able to stay rather warm as well.
"IM HOOKED", I'm now looking for other hunting ground blinds. I'm wanting something the same size or bigger, I took a Doe in muzzle loader season from the "TENT" some 30 yards away and it was a fantastic double lung shot. I've been looking and they come in a variety of different patterns, With so many different places to put these things, I'm thinking about getting several.
I still set on my 5-gallon bucket with a cushion, I think a taller blind would be better because the "Shooting Windows" seemed a little low. On days it was raining, I was dry and warm, The blind came with 6" ground stakes that were easily pulled out of the ground during high winds so we got 12" camping stakes from Wall-Mart that worked much better. I think one with a larger ground area will be better for my heaters, back-pack, water bottles and just stretching out.
Seems like everyone has these things and they don't use them, E-Bay has many used ones and NOW in deer season they are asking a pretty high $$ for them, I think I will wait until season goes out and see what they are going for.
