Was this your first Northern Pike ? They hit like a freight train, but sure are one slimmy fish. Get a big one in the net on the bottom of a boat ,and they will make one heck of a big mess. A lot of people like to eat them, but not so much with me. I have eatten them in Northern Minn. and just not one of my favorite fish to eat. ( BUT THATS JUST ME) Question, that gill you are holding, did it come from a pond? I have a farm pond I fish and they all had that orange/yellow color on their bottom fins I would catch from there.

That was my first legal pike, and yes they are messy! Those gills were caught from a old gravel pit.

Looks like you had a very good year mine started off with the trip to reelfoot lake where we caught several fish, but not as many as we had hoped for. After the my fishing season pretty much went downhill, sure I got out and fished but not as much as I have done in the years past. Hope to get out more this coming year . Gill

Yes it is sad Mark getting old. Your wife said fishing is not only thing you have slowed down on.

Charlie, give him a break. He can't help it if he's getting a bunch of gray hair and going bald !!! I'm still waiting on him to catch that 75+ fish, but I'm gonna beat him to it !!! I came real close to catching the 75 a couple weeks ago, but it hit my bass fishing rod. I was fishing for bass, and it stripped out all my line before snapping it. I could just feel the line getting tighter and tighter, and the "SNAP" Between the fish and all the darn raccoons, Just doesnt give a fisherman many options !
