A record fish should NOT only count caught from a private ,pond / lake, but should NOT count caught from a lake / pond without public access. There are to many (PUBLIC) / private access lakes in Indiana that don't allow ( OUTSIDERS) access. The state record large mouth bass was caught on a PRIVATE lake as well. I person could ever easy have a nice spring feed gravel pit, or backyard pond ,stocked and fed heavy to grow records. Lets grow state records, record them as such. Have them mounted and sell them to shops, or sport places for large profits. Can always grow more records. another think NOT one penny of DNR ( our) money should go into a private / no access lake or pond in Indiana. No weed controll, no stocking, no DNR protrolling. If the public doesn't have access don't spend my money on it !!

I agree, Charlie. If the DNR has access to a private lake then the general public should also have access to that very same lake.
Many of these private ponds can and often times do present themselves as fish hatcheries where their owners feed the fish and deliberately grow fish to record sizes, the general public has NO access to these places and therefore they should be disqualified from claiming a trophy fish.
Equal access for everyone would ensure an equal chance that the general public would have the same chance to catch and register a trophy fish, however this is NOT the case.
I believe the DNR should make some changes regarding their registration and the fisherman should be given a lie detector test to avoid fraud.
