Just looking for interesting stories and ideas for hunting and fishing. I picked up the handle 'crappierat' by my compadres on the Santee-Cooper reservoir in S.C. where I ran a commercial catfishing operation. While I caught thousands of cats; I picked up a reputation as a pretty good crappie fisherman (just lucky). Nice to meet ya'll.

What part of our great State are you from?
Is catfishing & crappie your primary target fish or do you just enjoy being out in the great outdoors catching whatever will bite?

I'm from Logansport and call you Friend. I love the pull of a strong flathead in a strong current and the taste of a fresh crappie fillet but the interaction with nature is at the core of my pursuits in fishing and hunting. The deer are free to bed in my backyard without fear and I guard my small canine companions from the coyote that often yip and bark as they travel along the creek behind my house...and I look forward to hearing your stories and perhaps sharing a few of my own.

It's good to have you here crappierat, I'm guessing you commercially fish the Wabash river because that's closer to Logansport than other rivers. If I'm correct can you tell us how the Asian carp invasion has affected your fishing ? I hear it lots from anglers, but you might have a different view about the Asian carp. Thanks

Thanks for the welcome, Sam. I don't commercially fish any waters these days-just for sport. I also don't have an opinion of the Asian carp as of yet. I've seen the video of them in the Wabash but have not encountered any. I've also seen a chef trying to hype them as good eating but lt looked like the same 'ole b/s I've seen about other carp being edible.

AH HA!! I know who you are (K.H.) and yes you are my friend.
I know last year I said I'd like to take you fishing with me but as you know, last year was really a rough time for me.
SO, I'd like to take this oppertunity to let you know that I'm feeling MUCH better and I'm looking forward to doing ALLOT of fishing this coming year.
I bought another kayak and am looking forward to a great harvest durring the spring spawn, In the last few years I did happen to find some really interesting DEEP holes in the Wabash and I'd like to see, this year, what might be lerking in them.

I'll take that as an invite. I know a few deep holes in the Wabash myself; looking forward to sharing.
