Sunday Gill & I headed out for a 6 mile kayaking adventure, we hit the water at 8am and the air was cool but the water seemed cooler than the air and the river looked fantastic.
After making our way through some shallow rapids we found ourselves in some rather dead water, very little current which made us think we were on a lake rather than a river. Mark quickly caught the only small mouth bass in that 1st mile stretch and I caught the only small mouth bass that was in the 2nd mile
When we started on the third mile I hooked into the biggest Drum Whale I have ever seen in my life, this thing had harpoons sticking out of its back but with a steady hand and a cool head I was able to boat the monster.
We passed through some of the most beautiful water in that third mile, gigantic boulders above and below the water, Bald Eagles, two 6-Point Bucks playing in the river, Gill caught a crappie and another nice small mouth bass but there should have been hundreds in there.
I got my stringer caught on a big tree in the river and the snap on it came open and I lost my Drum Whale and then I lost my Small mouth Bass.
Then we hit mile 4 .....4 & 1/2 this section was dead, really dead .... The only thing good about this section was this really cool Island that would be great to camp on. We must have paddled for five hours, maybe more.
Then we came to the last mile and a half .... very fast water .... only two inches deep .... very hazardous walking .... Mark released his bass after walking for about two hours. We pulled out of the river at 6pm ..... I told mark to NEVER LET ME DO THAT EVER AGAIN.
