Hey Bubba (GILL) I was wondering what tactics you used in Canada, Which lures you found to be effective and what ones didn't work Please feel free to go into long drawn out explanations covering every single minute you were there. What species did you target and how you targeted them .... You know ... things like I do .... tasting the water to see what has swam by .... smelling the fish to see if came from a school or if it was a drop-out. Just keep it simple and in complete detail ..... Thanks buddy.

Well buddy my Canada trip was fantastic, sorry I haven't had much time to get on here and mess around, The 3 main fish that we targeted were walleye, pike, and yellow perch. I will start off by saying that there was a mayfly hatch going on while we were there, so the walleye were hard to find and catch, but we did catch a few, the pike on the other hand were really bothersome, catching pike was like taking candy from a kid it was that easy, and the perch well they were pretty hard to target also though we caught a few, As far as the tackle that I used, perch tried using night crawlers on a rig, didn't work out for us, ended up switching to the gulp alive 3'' black and silver minnows and casting up against the weedbeds and caught all the perch on those, walleye I used so many different lures I can't start to tell you what I used, but what I ended up using to catch all my walleyes and even all the pike with was a XPS floating lure in the perch color I trolled that 30-40 ft. behind the boat and was really successful using that lure. on the next to last day of our trip I hooked into a nice pike with it got it in the boat and one of the treble hoks had broken off the lure, so after some riverside doctoring on the lure I took some hooks off of one of my other lures that I don't use too often and got my XPS back in the water and finished out the trip with it. Not only was thefishing great but just the solitude of the place was worth the cost of the trip. We drove to Chapleau, got to the boathouse and then go 5 miles up the river to our cabins by boat, the only noise you would hear is a boat passing by on the water, a seaplane that would fly over every now and then or someone in the next cabin talking it was awesome, across the river is the crown game preserve, the worlds largest game preserve, 2 million acres of trees and wildlife, it was really cool to wake up in the early morning go sit on the deck and watch moose grazing across the river or hear the sounds of the loons out on the water. Hoping to beable to go back next year. Gill

OK now you're going to have to explain what an "XPS" is because I cannot figure it out. Do you have a link that I can see one and will they work around here?? One more thing .. if this lure is so good then Why don't I have one??

I believe it's made by rapala, I know that bass pro sells them anyways, because I am sure it was a Christmas gift from one of my in-laws and they live in Nasville , TN and shop there for me on a regular basis. Funny thing is I have probably had this lure for 3-5 yrs. and never used it. if you want to see one go to the bass pro site and type in XPS lures and it will pull up a whole list for you, the one I have is the floater.
