There's an article in the new Outdoor Indiana magazine about the recovery of White River from the big fish kill 10 years ago. It's hard to believe it's been that long ago. The article mentions 20 inch smallmouth being caught in the river since then. I haven't fished the river since the fish kill, but after reading this I'm going to give it a try this spring.

Just my thoughts: Ten years is not near enough. You and me will be long gone before it builds back up. You talk about only one type of fsh, and although I like catching those smallies, I also tend to think about the other fish. How long before I can catch a 50 or 60 pound flathead cat ?? I'm sorry, but for less than a penny per fish stocked, Guide got out of this dirt cheap !!! Not to mention all fish stocked were fingerlings !!! Ya know, instead of allowing commercial fishermen to take, and sell, flatheads, blues, channels and big carp from our big rivers like the Wabash and Ohio, to pay fishing lakes, seems like to me that Guide could of bought some adult size fish to put back into the river. Oop's, that would of cost them lots more money !! Hey, I just live here, and the White river is were I fish lots. River goes right through my hometown, I'll be the first one to tell you, that you and myself, and all taxpayers got cheated on this one ! Here in Martinsville, it was nothing for an angler to catch a 50 or 60 pound fish before the spill, yet a 50 pound fish is extremely rare anymore, and it's not because of angling pressure !! Wasn't this way before the spill ! I'll be to old or dead before I see the fishing back in the White river like it used to be !! sam
