Squirrel season opened last month and now Dove season is open. Didn't hunt much of anything last year, but tried Dove hunting this last week. Got to be carefull dover hunting at to not to over heat. A few years ago a guy died coming out of one of the feilds there over heated, and dropped dead in the feild. A buddy and myself went to Kanakee FWA dove hunting Wednesday. Was calling for a high of 70 degrees, but warmed up a tad more, was hot! I managed to get 9 birds and lost one, only shooting 30 times . Found out its harder to kill these speed rockets sitting down as to standing. ( NEVER TAKE A CAMP TYPE CHAIR AGAIN)Can't get out of the darn things fast enought. My buddy got 6 birds. We saw lots of birds, but lots of others shooting as well. Injoy this early hunting and didn't hunt any last year so was ready this year to kill something. They will be dinner tonight so no waste of what I killed. May be able to get out again, but not sure. Charlie s290.photobucket.com/albums/ll262/Fishingbum/?action=view¤t=DoveHunting2009.jpg

Dove hunting, now that brings back memories. In fact I still have one of those memories in my left ear. A piece of buckshot, my brother-in-law shot at a bird that flew between us as we were walking through a field looking for downed birds, and I got peppered. If I could afford the shot shells and the shotgun I think it would be fun to hunt doves again, they are great eating birds.
