As you tell from my handle I like camping while fishing, never did like getting up early just to drive to the fish, like being there already. Moved to Lebanon to be closer to work and shorter distance to a couple of lakes I like, Waveland & Brookville and also would like to try Raccoon, never fished or camped there. Anybody know of a couple of good fishing spots on Raccoon. Nothing better than sitting around a campfire after a fish fry, roasting marshmallows on sticks with your family and friends. Sure looking forward to a warm spring so I can get out there, not much on cold weather fishing, seems the older I get the more I like it warm. My boats name is PooToo, Winnie the Pooh bear sitting in an inter tube, fishing with a pole & drink. IF you see us? COME SAY HELLO !

Welcome watercamper, Great to have you here. I can't give you any specific spots, but I can give you some info about the lakes. First, places near to you: Boone's Pond is just south of Lebanon off I-65 at the whitestown exit on the east side of the highway. You cannot camp here, but it does have bluegill, redear, channel cat, bass, carp, and hard to say what else. It is a state run public fishing area. Makes for a good day trip and is very close to you. Raccoon lake is a large body of water. There is a place you can fish on state road 36 on the east side of the bridge (bank), or you can go into the park. There are several boat ramps around the lake. Good lake for big flatheads, bass, crappie, carp. There are also some walleye and pearch in the lake. If you go a little further west into the town of Rockville, there is Rockville lake park.. About 300 or so acres and electric motors only. Very good lake for panfishing. Has bass, crappie, bluegill, carp, channel and yellowbelly catfish. Has a very nice campground, and it's one of those campgrounds I've never seen dirty. One of my favorites. Cataract (Cagles Mill) is another choice good choice. Not far from Raccoon, this lake has some good bass if you can find them. Also has good panfishing, carp, walleye, channel cat, stripers, and some really big flatheads and bluecats. It does have campgrounds Glen Flint reservoir shouldn't be far from you, but no campgrounds. Brookville seems like it would be a pretty long drive for you. It does have a good campground. Good fishing for bluegill, channel cat, both largemouth and smallmouth bass, stripers, walleye, and if you get real lucky you might even tie into a muskie. Hope it helps and Good Fishing !!!!

You can camp at Starve Hollow Lake State Recreation Area right on the water. I didn't go there this year but I heard they drained it and did some work on the dam. The lake was overrun with shad too.

Welcome to the site Hick, er um Water camper.
I've looked and looked for a Raccoon Lake in my books and could not find it, I know it exist because I've fished it many times. It's probably one of those Lakes that has two names.

Hey Guys. Thanks for the GREAT INFO on those lakes!! Looking forward to check them out this season!! I also hear Eagle Creek, at Indy is a good pan fishing spot but has a 10 hp limit on motors? I actually do most of my camping aboard my boat on the water. Great way to night fish for Paper Mouth crappie, (my favorite),a few Cat or cast for Bass. Sure am glad to hear Raccoon has Preach, their my #2 best tasting catch and I haven't been able to find any south of Wawasee! Thanks for the tip. I always try to practice catch and release if feasible, I keep only enough for a dinner mess and mostly keep only fish injured from a bad hooking. SEE YA ON THE LAKES,Come Say Hello!
