Slug season for deer the harvest will be starting Nov. 12th, 2011 and it really looks good out there for whatever type of hunting you do.
What Type of Hunting ?? Ether meat or trophy, ever since I can remember there have always been both. Those who want to put meat on the table and those who only want the RACK.
I've talked to so many trophy hunters over the years that desperately need people to give venison to, they love the hunt but hate the taste of venison, Well now they do not have to try so heard to give the meat away.
Our INDNR has a program that takes the deer and feeds the hungry,

Venison Donation Programs
Looking to donate venison to someone in need? Join the GiveIN Game Program. This program matches hunters who have the opportunity to harvest additional deer with people in need of venison to feed their families. The program is FREE and once you join, you can search for people in your area that are offering or requesting venison.
Additionally, there are two programs available for donating venison to a local processor that participates in the following programs. Click on the links to view participating processors.
* Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry
* Sportsmen Against Hunger
Hunters can also donate to the Sportman's Benevolence Fund. Proceeds from the fund pay for the venison donation processing fees.

For those who like to eat venison, many of the Counties have Processing centers that are also Deer Check-in Stations.
