SOUND =
Every time I here someone say "Quiet" the deer will here you!! I want to smack them, Of course they can here you >> BUT what do they expect.
When I'm sitting in my stand I here cars on the road, children playing half a mile away, dogs barking, radio's playing, horns honking, guns shooting >>> My gosh I here Noise and the deer here it too!!
Have you ever watched a deer walking through the woods and actually notice how he reacts to Noise .... They listen, then they go about their business .... they do not go and hide.
I get a big Kick out of these hunting shows on TV where the camera man & the hunter are in the same tree .... The hunter is whispering to the camera man before the kill and after the deer drops dead he still whispers to the camera man.
Some people try to "Muffle" their coughs & sneezes for fear of being heard .... All animals cough & sneeze >>> have you ever listened to a dog, cat, cow, deer or a horse .... I say "Let Er Rip" .... Why??
Deer locate each other by the sounds they make and two of the most common sounds they make is a cough & sneeze and they cannot distinguish the difference between themselves and us.
I cannot remember how many times we have been out rabbit hunting, beating the brush, shouting at each other and having beagles barking up a storm and still walked up to a group of deer.
SO, how important is the little bitty sound that you make going to affect your hunting??

CONFRONTATION =
We all have it, and if you let it win, you'll loose.
OK, you've scouted, checked and double checked your trails and you just about can tell exactly the time that big deer is going to appear.
But wait ... he didn't show up .... you here gun shots all around you ... you've been sitting there for an hour and have seen Nothing ....
Now you start fighting with yourself ..... Gee, I'm wasting my time out here ..... somebody has already shot my buck ... I have other things I could be doing ... maybe I should move to another stand.
Its this constant term-oral within us that needs to be controlled or it will ruin your hunt .... Keep in mind that when you here other hunters shoot, they will soon be tracking their prey and thus walking through the woods ..... Movement .... that will cause the deer to start moving again .... possibly in your direction.
Relax .... enjoy your time in the woods ... and before you know it, it will be your turn to shoot.

FEAR OF THE WOODS = A young couple wanting to live in the country, bought a 50 acre woods with some low swampy ground in the center. They built a new house about 60 yards from the swamp and have four security lights around their house, one at each corner. I tell my wife, These people have watched too many horror movies about the woods & swamps and they are afraid of the "Monster" coming out to get them . I'm thinking that there might be more truth to that than we would like to admit, after all I have seen deer hunters take over 30 deer slugs with them ... to shoot a buck. I know it might take several shots to stop Big Foot, and at least 2 dozen shots to subdue a Swamp creature .... But .... in most cases it will only take one shot to kill a buck. I really shouldn't laugh, there are so many people who really have a fear of the unknown and there are some very strange things that goes on inside a swampy woods. When I was a boy, I had two older brothers who took me Night Fishing with them. I would ride to the middle of a river on one of my brother's shoulders and I was placed on a big rock and I was told to stay put, Because the water was 100 feet deep and that there was a "Terrible Sea Monster" that would eat me if I moved off that rock. of course it was pitch black and I wasn't given a flashlight. I could here my brother moving through the water, then I heard some growling and my brother started screaming "The Sea Monster Got Me" Not knowing it was my other brother playing the part of the sea monster, I had the "KAJEEBUZ" scared out of me and to this day I have a fear of ..... Water .... River water, lake water and even creek water. I know it may sound silly but the only way I have found to confront my fears is to go fishing, wading and kayaking But way down in the deep recesses of my mind, I still think there are sea creatures that will ....... "EAT YOU ALIVE" SO, if you've ever gotten really scared from a movie about a scary woods that has a swamp in it ..... I can understand why you would take a gazillion bullets with you when you go hunting.

It would be best if everyone is here at 6 (six) I'll explain tomorrow morning. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
KNIFE = Bring a knife because after the kill you'll need to "GUT" the beast. I prefer using a small pocket knife, very sharp and easy to use in tight places.
I've seen people try using Gigantic Bowie Knives and they have the hardest time and often end up cutting themselves more than the deer. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Season starts tomorrow, please be careful out there, have fun and good luck!! -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
One side note .... please make every attempt to track & harvest the whole deer and not just the "RACK", there are many deer processing places around the state that do some mighty fantastic work and they are not that expensive.
SKIPPER.
